Boat Mill Museum

Boat Mill Museum

The inhabitants of Ráckeve decided to reconstruct the old boat mill. The reconstruction of the boat mill took three years (from 2007 to 2010).

Since 2010, it has been the favourite relic of industrial history in the region, rebuilt as a result of a residential initiative, based on original written documents, photographs and drawings. This special mill dates back to the times most residents of Ráckeve were millers: as soon as the good weather set in, the boat mill – which also served as their homes – would be towed out to the Great Danube, where the power of the stream was used to run the mill and grind the grains.

The boat mill today functions as a museum, where shows are held every Sunday: three types of flour are ground, which can also be bought from the miller.
